Snake Girl - Suehiro Maruo - 1988

This artbook was published in Japan in 1988 and has long since been out of print. It is a classic. Its starting point was the "Eimei Nijûhasshûku", a series of 28 graphically bloody and violent woodcut prints by Yoshitoshi and Yoshiiku, that were originally published in 1866. Katsuhiko Takahashi, who compiled and edited this artbook, as well as supplying essays and explanatory notes, decided to commission two contemporary artists of the erotic grotesque, Suehiro Maruo and Kazuichi Hanawa, to draw a new, contemporary "Eimei Nijûhasshûku" and to present the two in a single volume. The text in the artbook is provided in both Japanese and English.

these are fucking nuts.
they're like...japanese garbage pail kids, except more disgusting.
also, I noticed some of them are based on real things that actually happened.
